61301Cc Pine Burr Medium blue, lt. orange 550.00
74” x 87” 1920-40, Hamilton Co., IN; maker unknown. This is Brackman # 3002 in her Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns
. Plain medium blue, white, and plain light orange are used to make this positive/negative design of 4 white diamonds edged in orange triangle points, or solid blue 4-point stars edged in orange triangle points. The 20 blue stars win out, set point to point and framed by a triple border of 2" blue, 1.5” white, and 3” blue strips with mitered corners, edged in light orange folded triangle points (“prairie points”). The quilt also has narrow white binding seen on the back, over a white backing fabric. Machine pieced, hand quilted in outline on each of the pattern segments, with the blue stars quilted in a floral design and the white diamonds quilted in a floral and shamrock pattern. One inch square lattice on the diagonal fills the ground and borders. Excellent condition, faint stains in one blue area, 2 light dots on the back.
