Churn Dash /"Our Baby"
31525Cc Churn Dash /Hole in the Barn Door CRIB Double pink, white 125.00
36” x 36” ca. 1900; found in South Carolina, maker unknown. Apparently made by an expectant mother; embroidered on the center block are the words Our Baby. Nine 8” Churn Dash blocks in double pink print and white, set on point and alternated with plain white; the back and self-bindng, back over front by hand, are also white. Hand pieced, machine joined, hand quilted in ½” parallel lines through the pattern blocks, with small oval chains on the diagonal through the setting squares. The setting triangles around the edges are quilted in ½” lines at right angles to the edges. Soft and well used; a few open seams, a small tear on the back, and the double pink fabric is fragile.
